Jewellery Care
Made to be worn.
Cared for gently.
A few simple habits help protect the finishes, stones and details that make your Birrani pieces feel special.
Keep cleaning gentle, give each piece its own space between wears, and take a little extra care with plated jewellery and natural materials.
Use this guide alongside your product’s material and finish details. You can also read about our materials and finishes.
Everyday habits.
- Put jewellery on after perfume, creams and hairspray have dried.
- Remove it before showering, swimming, exercise and household cleaning.
- Take it off before sleeping or activities that could catch, knock or pull the piece.
- Keep it away from harsh chemicals and prolonged heat.
Clean gently.
After wear, gently wipe your jewellery with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Use light pressure rather than vigorous rubbing.
For routine care, choose an untreated cloth. Avoid abrasive pads, toothpaste, silver polish and chemical dips on plated pieces.
Protect the finish.
Gold and rhodium plating are surface finishes that can gradually wear with friction, use and contact with products. Gentle handling helps preserve their appearance.
Use the same gentle approach for silver-finish stainless steel, avoiding rough cleaning and contact with harsh chemicals.
Natural stones & strung pieces.
Different stones need different care. Unless specific advice for your piece says otherwise, avoid soaking, steam cleaning and ultrasonic machines.
Keep cord, leather, thread and elastic dry. Do not overstretch strands or pull on knotted sections when putting jewellery on or taking it off.
Between wears.
Store each piece separately in a pouch or soft-lined compartment, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
Fasten chains before storing and lay them separately to help reduce tangling.
Handle with care.
Check clasps, links and stone settings occasionally. If something feels loose or looks damaged, stop wearing the piece and contact us for guidance.
Avoid forcing clasps, pulling chains or repeatedly bending open cuffs.
